Dexter: Original Sin is the prequel that fans have been hearing so much about. While the series will follow the life of Dexter Morgan and his inner circle, there will be huge changes to the cast. In fact, don’t expect to see any of the original cast members on the show. The series is set several years before the original series. This means that Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter, and others won’t be reprising the roles they made famous. Instead, new faces have been cast in the roles. It may be controversial, but it’s needed for the new storyline.

The new look cast will feature Patrick Gibson as Dexter Morgan. Molly Brown takes over as Debra Morgan and Christian Slater has been tapped as a younger version of the siblings’ father, Harry Morgan. James Martinez replaces David Zayas as Angel Batista, Christina Milian is the new-look Maria LaGuerta, and Alex Shimizu will play Vince Masuka, per Screen Rant.

Dexter Prequel Adds New Cast To Familiar Characters

It will be nice to seem some dead characters make their return in Dexter: Original Sin. However, it will certainly be a new vibe without the beloved original cast members. Fans have gotten so used to seeing Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan, and were thrilled when the sequel series was released. However, this time around, it’s all about the events that lead up to the original series.

Fans will get a look at a young Dexter as he works his way through the ranks at the Miami Metro police department alongside his sister Debra. Their father will be alive, and not just a figment of Dexter’s imagination. He’ll also learn his son’s shocking serial killer secret. As many fans may remember, it was Harry Morgan who taught Dexter the serial killer code that he lived by his entire life. Now, we’re about to get an inside look into those early years.

However, if fans are worried about the new cast members, there will be some familiar faces behind the scenes. Clyde Phillips is returning as showrunner and producer. Hall is also an executive producer on the show, meaning he’ll be there to help his predecessor out in any way possible.

Dexter: Original Sin is currently filming. It doesn’t have a release date just yet. However, it is scheduled to stream on Paramount Plus as well as Showtime.
